My daughter Maya is 10 years old and she was diagnosed with dyskinetic cerebral palsy at 6 months of age. Her case is dystonic, which means she has sustained muscle contractions in upper body and legs.
Fortunately, she can control her eyes and a majority of function in her mouth; her eyes being her initial way of communication. When she agrees to something she will look towards her left and when she doesn't she looks towards her right. Now, when she is being sneaky she just smiles from side to side and squints (this is the usual look when referring to a boy in class or on TV) .
Unfortunately, she lost her ability to speak after a needed tracheotomy due to breathing problems back in 2012. But she refuses to not be heard, as she makes noises and still can pronounce some of her words through her passy-Muir Valve or also know as a talk and swallow valve. So, she will be heard when she wants to be heard and believe you me, she will make it known if she wants something. It's now a part of her character to be outspoken when she wants to (more on that later).

ReplyDeleteThere are several types of supplements that can be used for weight loss too, since Maya is using supplements I started as well and lost, so far 26 lbs.
ReplyDeleteInteresting....are there products for other things such as stress?
ReplyDeleteStarbien is perfect for stress, it's perfect for all day office work, in front of a computer type of day. I also recommend OML VIU, which keeps your eyes clear and protected from all day computer use.
